What the coaches say

2020/21 Nations League: new format explained

Erik Hamrén, Iceland coach: "I do not know if it is possible to top the game in 2016. It came as a surprise to many in the world. If we do something similar, it will also be unexpected. Realistically, England should win if we look at their recent results and their team. However, in football, not everything is realistic."

Gareth Southgate, England manager: "You are always questioning with those young players when is the right time to move them up, we felt now is a good time. We are a year away from a European Championship and let's see if they can start to break into that team, that squad. It gives us great competition for places, they are realistic challengers."
