League A

Highlights: Switzerland 6-0 Iceland

Group A2: Switzerland 6-0 Iceland
In a stunning display in St Gallen, Switzerland were 2-0 up at the break through Steven Zuber and Deniz Zaharia. A Xherdan Shaqiri free-kick was flicked into his own net by Birkir Bjarnason before Haris Seferović, debutant Albian Ajet and fellow substitute Admir Mehmedi added to an unhappy start as Iceland coach for Erik Hamrén.

Highlights: England 1-2 Spain

Group A4: England 1-2 Spain
Luis Enrique had a more enjoyable start to life as Spain boss as his side came from behind to claim only their second win in England. Saúl Ñíguez quickly cancelled out Marcus Rashford's opener before Rodrigo tucked in what proved to be the winner on 32 minutes.

League B

Nothern Ireland 1-2 Bosnia and Herzegovina

Group B3: Northern Ireland 1-2 Bosnia and Herzegovina
Northern Ireland had by far the majority of the possession and chances but Haris Duljević and Elvis Sarić ensured an away win despite Will Grigg's late consolation.

League C

Group C2: Finland 1-0 Hungary
Teemu Pukki's early goal proved decisive as Finland earned an impressive win against Hungary. The hosts had the better openings throughout, with Joona Toivio and Pukki both striking the woodwork in the second half.

Group C2: Estonia 0-1 Greece
Kostas Fortounis struck in the 14th minute after good work from Kostas Mitroglou as Greece recorded victory in an even game in Tallinn.

League D

Group D2: Belarus 5-0 San Marino
Igor Stasevich's fourth-minute strike set the tone for a dominant home performance. Stanislav Dragun certainly enjoyed himself, scoring two headers and twice hitting the woodwork, while Anton Saroka's penalty a late Yuri Kovalev tap-in rounded off the win.

Highlights: Luxembourg's record home win

Group D2: Luxembourg 4-0 Moldova
Luxembourg kicked off with their biggest ever home win (only surpassed home and away by a 6-0 win against Afghanistan in the 1948 Olympic preliminary round in Brighton, England). Kevin Malget, Olivier Thill, Daniel Sinani and Christopher Martins were the scorers.
