About Enschede🏙️

With its 160,000 inhabitants, Enschede is the urban heart of the eastern Netherlands. The city is home to more than 150 nationalities and is one of the greenest places in the country. The universities, conservatory, art academy and international schools attract thousands of students every year. In fact, nowhere else in the Netherlands do so many people start their own businesses and more than 2,200 start-ups have been established in Enschede. 🤩

It is also a city with a rich textile past; indeed, it was a world leader in the field in the early 20th century. Although the textile industry has since disappeared, the cultural heritage from Enschede's industrial revolution remains today and throughout the city you can find examples of former textile factories that have been repurposed. 🧵

This small town is only about 20 minutes by taxi from Enschede and is a charming place to visit in its own right. It retains some old traditions, and you can even take a ride on the charming old steam train to be transported back through time!
