UEFA Futsal Cup holders Interviú Madrid have been placed in an tough Elite round group after the draw was made on Tuesday.
Seeded sides
Interviú, like Spanish rivals ElPozo Murcia FS, last season's finals hosts MFK Viz-Sinara Ekaterinburg and AFC Kairat Almaty were seeded straight into this stage with 12 teams joining them from the Main round. Three-time winners Interviú are in Group C for the games in November, hosted by Czech side FK Era-Pack Chrudim and also containing Ukrainian contenders FC Time Lviv and KMN Puntar of Slovenia. Ekaterinburg – winners in 2008 – are in Group B hosted by 2004 runners-up SL Benfica and also containing Dutch champions FC Marlène and Croatia's MNK Potpićan 98.
Murcia meet Charleroi
Hosts of the first four-team finals under the current format in 2007, Murcia are in Group A which is staged by Italy's Luparense Calcio A5 and also involves 2005 champions Action 21 Charleroiand the only team to enter all nine editions, Iberia 2003 Tbilisi. Kairat, semi-finalists for the last two years, will be in Azerbaijan for Group D against hosts Araz Naxçivan, Athina '90 Athens and the sole survivors from the Preliminary round, FK Nikars Riga. Only the four group winners will progress to April's finals, to be hosted by one of their number.
