Ugra Yugorsk's Russian futsal title dream comes true

Russia will have a new entrant in the UEFA Futsal Cup next season after Ugra Yugorsk clinched their first league title by defeating FC Dynamo 7-2 in the fifth and decisive final play-off.

Never before since the play-off system was introduced in 2010/11 have all five matches been needed to decide the final but so it proved this time, with reigning champions MFK Dina Moskva knocked out in the last eight by MFK Tyumen, themselves then beaten by Dynamo, who had topped the regular season table.

Dynamo lost the home opener of the final 5-4 but a day later overcame Ugra 3-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw. Action then switched to Yugorsk and Ugra won 4-3 before a 7-2 loss ensured they would have to travel back to Dynamo for game five.

Crucially, that 7-2 scoreline was reversed by Ugra with a Marcenio hat-trick as their hosts pushed everything into attack late on, to leave Dynamo out of Europe again next term. Dynamo did lift the Russian Cup and had the top goalscorer Fernandinho on 84 from 46 matches.

Ivan Chishkala, who notched two for Ugra in the decisive victory, said: "It's just unbelievable! Finally, we have achieved this and won the title. We have played a well-balanced game throughout the season and I think we deserved this success.

"I can't describe what we feel now. I had a dream which came true today. I didn't expect to score two goals in the decisive match, but I always try to do everything I can. It's not yet time to think about UEFA Futsal Cup. First we need to celebrate this win and relax after a hard season."
