What do you need to know?

Highlights: Juventus 1-1 Sevilla

Federico Gatti's goal deep into second-half added time denied Sevilla a first-leg victory at Juventus, but if the Bianconeri are not behind as they prepare for the return, they have much to do. Six-time competition winners Sevilla are unbeaten in 18 Europa League games at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán (W16 D2).

However, Massimiliano Allegri has won in Seville before. In November 2016, his Juve side were 1-0 down inside the first ten minutes of a UEFA Champions League game at Sevilla, but rallied after their hosts had a man sent off. Leonardo Bonucci – who made his 500th appearance in all competitions for the club in the first leg of this tie – scored the second goal in an eventual 3-1 win.

Expert predictions

Simon Hart, Sevilla reporter
Sevilla are a team hitting top form at the perfect time with Sunday’s 3-0 win at Real Valladolid their seventh victory in 11 matches under José Luis Mendilibar. Confidence is high and expectations will be too on Thursday night with the Sánchez-Pizjuán crowd preparing to roar their team to a seventh Europa League/UEFA Cup final. Those fans will draw further encouragement from the news that injury doubts Suso and Lucas Ocampos both trained on the eve of the game, meaning Mendilibar has all his attacking options available..

Fabio Balaudo, Juventus reporter
Paul Pogba's first game as a starter for Juventus this season lasted less than 25 minutes on Sunday as the French midfielder suffered a thigh injury during a 2-0 defeat of Cremonese. Certainly not good news for the Bianconeri ahead of the crucial trip to Sevilla, where they need a victory to book their ticket to Budapest. Once again, Massimiliano Allegri will have to make a virtue of necessity, coping without one of his most talented and experienced players. Pogba provided the assist for Federico Gatti's equaliser in the first leg and could have been a key figure in Spain too.

What the coaches say

José Luis Mendilibar, Sevilla coach: "This is one of the most important games of my career. You have to have enormous respect for Juve, who have won pretty much everything, but hopefully we can fight for 'the seventh' [UEFA Cup/Europa League title]. We've seen Juve a lot and we think we know how to counteract them. We have to be focused, knowing when to defend and staying patient."

Massimiliano Allegri, Juventus coach: "Sevilla are a strong team that played well in Turin. After the first goal we were a bit disjointed, but then we improved in the second half. Tomorrow we know that they will be backed by their fans, but we will be ready for anything. We have all worked together to get here, and tomorrow we have the opportunity to get to Budapest and reach another final."
