Expert predictions

Simon Hart, Granada reporter: Newcomers Granada have defied expectations already in reaching the last eight, not least with their round of 32 defeat of Napoli. Now comes their biggest test yet. And if they're showing signs of wear and tear after 47 games this term – with three straight defeats for the first time since autumn 2019 – Diego Martínez's team have the spirit, resilience and organisation to raise hopes of another memorable night.

Matthew Howarth, United reporter: United have been notoriously slow starters this season but will need to hit the ground running against a Granada side who have overcome established European outfits en route to the quarter-finals. Spain has not been a particularly happy hunting ground for the Red Devils in recent years, but I fully expect Ole Gunnar Solskjær's team to prevail.

Irwin reaction to United's Granada date

Diego Martínez, Granada coach: "If we think too much about everything United have going for them, we wouldn't even show up. We are facing a giant. So far, doing that has motivated us to push ourselves to the fullest, to compete as a team. Over 180 minutes plus added time, anything can happen. The fact that we are talking here today is because this team has made the very improbable possible."

Ole Gunnar Solskjær, United manager: "I watched [Granada's] games and I have spoken to some people to get insights. They're a team full of experience: full of character and experience, which you expect from teams who have been promoted recently. Great season last year and I think they're one of the teams who have played the most games this season."
