Second Spanish victims
Mallorca became Slovan's second Spanish victims, following their defeat of RC Celta de Vigo in the previous round. Slovan's 3-1 first-leg lead meant that Mallorca were forced to attack throughout, but the Czech side contained the Spanish side with a well-organised defensive display.
Exploited the gaps
They then exploited the gaps in the Mallorca defence to notch two goals midway through the second half that put the tie well beyond the reach of the Balearic islanders. Ghanaian international Baffour finished off a lightning counter-attack by side-footing past goalkeeper Leo Franco in the 56th minute after Mallorca had lost the ball in midfield.
Defensive mix-up
Just under a quarter of a hour later fellow forward Stajner made the most of a defensive mix-up between Franco and Vicente Fernández to send a shot over the two and ballooning into the net.
Late consolation
Cameroonian international Samuel Eto'o managed a late consolation for Mallorca when he scored from the penalty spot in the 80th minute after substitute Carlos was brought down by keeper Antonín Kinský.
