Kasparov makes right moves
Zvarnots, trailing 5-1 on aggregate when the second leg began, had made six changes from a fortnight ago, and the new players gelled well as they withstood an impressive first-half performance from Primorje to keep the game goalless. Home goalkeeper Gevorg Kasparov was on particularly good form, saving a 28th-minute Simon Gregoric penalty, and blocking a point-blank effort from the same player on the half hour.
Home fans celebrate
And, in the second period, Zvarnots gave their fans something to enjoy when they took the lead through a Sargis Nazaryan spot-kick after Mher Avanesyan was fouled. With 12 minutes left, it was 2-0 when Karen Aleksanyan beat several Primorje defenders and crossed for Avanesyan to score.
'We could have gone through'
With Primorje safely in the first round, Zvarnots coach Samvel Kasaboglya admitted after the match: "We could have gone through had it not been for the disastrous game in Slovenia. However, we are happy to add some points to the Armenian co-efficient."
