Rotterdam return
The 31-year-old central defender has signed a two-year contract with the Rotterdam club, began his career with Feyenoord's city rivals SC Excelsior, making 111 appearances before moving to Cambuur Leeuwarden. He then joined AZ Alkmaar, before moving to Waalwijk in summer 2000, where he made 89 appearances in three seasons.
'A dream come true'
"For me, this is really a dream come true," Van Den Berg said. As part of the deal, Steve Olfers and Said Boutahar will join Waalwijk, with Olfers, a 21-year-old central defender, joining on loan for a year, while 20-year-old midfield player Boutahar has signed a one-year deal.
Second spell
Waalwijk have also re-signed 36-year-old left wing-back Marc van Hintum, who has joined on a free transfer from German side Hannover 96. The former Dutch international, who won eight caps for the Netherlands, played for Waalwijk between 1988 and 1992, going on to appear for Willem II and SBV Vitesse before moving to Hannover in January 2002. He has signed a one-year contract with Waalwijk.
