Lamey to line up for Utrecht

UEFA Cup participants FC Utrecht have signed defender Michael Lamey on a year's loan from PSV Eindhoven.

Replacement for Vreven
The 23-year-old wing-back spent last season on loan at AZ Alkmaar. At Utrecht he will be used as a replacement for Belgian defender Stijn Vreven, who recently left for German outfit 1. FC Kaiserlautern.

'A good alternative'
"He is a good alternative to Vreven," said Utrecht technical director Han Berger. "He is a good young player who can start attacks the way Stijn could. We have been looking for this kind of player."

PSV happy with deal
PSV's technical director Frank Arnesen also believed Lamey would benefit from the deal. "I am very happy that Lamey is joining Utrecht," he said. "Utrecht will play European football next season so he will be able to get some necessary experience."
