Article summary
FC Spartak Moskva striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has been banned for five UEFA club competition matches.
Article body
Red mist
Pavlyuchenko was red-carded for kicking an opponent in retaliation during the second leg in Denmark, which finished 1-1. The sending-off occurred in the 46th minute, three minutes after Pavlyuchenko had given the Russian team the advantage.
Spartak on song
Spartak won the tie 3-1 on aggregate to progress to a second-round meeting with FC Dinamo Bucuresti - which the Moscow club lead 4-0 after the first leg.
Out of action
Pavlyuchenko was automatically suspended for that game and will now miss a further four UEFA club competition matches. This will rule the 21-year-old out of the return against Dinamo, as well as Spartak's likely third-round games next spring and one other match.
