Ventspils progress in style

Eight different scorers
The Latvian Cup holders already led their Faroe Islands-based opponents 3-0 from the first leg, and eight different players were on the scoresheet today as they secured an 11-0 aggregate victory. Deimantas Bicka, Igoris Stukalinas and first-leg hat-trick scorer Vits Rimkus were on target before half-time and Alexandr Rehviashvili Maris Smirnovs, Andrejs Butriks, Jirí Krohmer and Andrejs Agafonov extended the lead after the break.

Glentoran glory
Also into Friday's draw, but by a much smaller margin, were Northern Ireland's Glentoran. Having drawn 2-2 at home to Finnish side AC Allianssi a fortnight ago Glentoran fell behind to a Adriano Munoz goal 38 minutes into the return after he pounced on the rebound when Elliot Morris saved from Hermanni Vuorinen. But not long after Shaun Holmes had hit the post with a free-kick, Thomas McCallion equalised with 20 minutes left, and Colin Nixon struck an 81st-minute winner made by Stephen Parkhouse to make it 4-3 on aggregate.

Haka through
Allianssi's compatriots FC Haka did make it through, though. Holding a 2-1 lead against Luxembourg's FC Etzella Ettelbrück from their home leg, Haka recovered from conceding a first-minute Luc Mischo goal to win 3-1 tonight and 5-2 overall thanks to Sami Ristilä, Sergei Terehhov and Mikko Innanen.

Fair play to Illychivets
Also making the most of a first-leg lead were Fair Play entrants FC Illychivets Mariupil from Ukraine, who claimed a 2-0 win in Armenia against FC Banants to go through 4-0 on their European debut. Dmitry Esin opened the scoring on nine minutes and Valentyn Platonov confirmed victory in the second half.

Decisive wins
Completing big aggregate triumphs were Romania's FC Otelul Galati and Bosnia-Herzegovina's NK Željeznicar. Otelul won 4-1 in Albania against KS Dinamo Tirana to progress by an 8-1 scoreline, while Željeznicar's 4-0 victory at home to San Marinese champions S.S. Pennarossa in Sarajevo produced a 9-1 aggregate result.

Modrica progress
The other national title-holders starting this season's UEFA Cup, Andorran side FC Santa Coloma, were also knocked out by Bosnia-Herzegovnian opposition, losing 3-0 at FK Modrica and 4-0 on aggregate. The match kicked off one-and-three-quarter hours early due to poor visibilty in the Novi Gradski stadium which has no floodlights.

ÍA advance
Iceland's ÍA Akranes saw off FC TVMK Tallinn 2-1 in Estonia to complete a 6-3 overall win. Ellert Jon Björnsson put ÍA ahead with a free-kick just before the break and doubled the lead with a long-range shot eight minutes into the second half. Veteran midfield player Andrei Borissov claimed a late consolation.

Single-goal triumphs
FC Dinamo Tbilisi overcame Belarussian side FC BATE Borisov 1-0 in Georgia and 4-2 on aggregate, while a victory by the only goal was also good enough for Slovakian club FK Dukla Banská Bystrica, who have made it through a European tie for the first time, 4-0 on aggregate against FK Karabakh of Azerbaijan.

Friday draw
