Rosenborg BK defeated SK Rapid Wien 3-2 to condemn the Austrian club to a last-place finish in UEFA Europa League Group K.

With Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Metalist Kharkiv having already sealed round of 32 progression, third place and pride were at stake in Norway. The absence of pressure duly made for an open contest and two goals in three minutes late on earned the hosts a dramatic win, after Thomas Schrammel and Terrence Boyd had overturned John Chibuike's impressive opener.

The visitors had the better of the early chances, and Deni Alar was guilty of passing up the pick of them, stabbing wide after Boyd had neatly sent him one-on-one with Alexander Lund Hansen. Such misses have been commonplace in a campaign that brought Rapid a solitary goal before this game, and Chibuike punished them in style on 28 minutes. Taking possession near the right corner flag, he drove towards the 'D' before slaloming around three challenges and firing inside the right post with the outside of his left foot.

Rapid pulled level shortly after half-time. A deep corner was knocked back to the edge of the box, where Schrammel collected and fired through the crowd inside the right post. Hansen prevented Guido Burgstaller's curler from finding from the bottom corner as Rapid sought the lead, but he could not prevent the visitors from registering again on 66 minutes. The No12 parried Harald Pichler's initial shot from range, yet Boyd showed lightning-quick reactions to nip in and steer the rebound back under the man with the gloves.

Any hopes Rapid had of a first win nonetheless evaporated when Tarik Elyounoussi's low shot ricocheted in for a 76th-minute Rosenborg equaliser. It was then left to substitute Rade Prica to regain the lead for his side three minutes later, the Swedish forward knocking in Jonas Svensson's square pass after springing the offside trap.
