Quarter-final draw lineup confirmed

Tottenham Hotspur FC and FC Rubin Kazan needed extra time to book their places in Friday's UEFA Europa League quarter-final draw, while Chelsea FC came back from the brink to win their round of 16 tie.

Tottenham, Rubin and Chelsea will be joined by SL Benfica, S.S. Lazio, Newcastle United FC, FC Basel 1893 and Fenerbahçe SK in the last-eight draw, which takes place in Nyon from 12.40CET on Friday. Spurs endured the rockiest ride, surrendering a 3-0 first-leg lead at FC Internazionale Milano before Emmanuel Adebayor's 96th-minute goal. Basel, against FC Zenit St Petersburg, also survived a second-leg fightback, while Newcastle saw off FC Anzhi Makhachkala courtesy of Papiss Cissé's last-gasp header. Chelsea recovered from a 2-1 aggregate deficit at half-time tonight to beat FC Steaua Bucureşti 3-2.

At this stage of the competition, no teams are seeded and clubs from the same association can be pitted against each other. The first side drawn in each tie will play the first leg at home, on 4 April, with the return matches a week later. All the draw proceedings will be transmitted live on UEFA.com. The UEFA Europa League semi-final draw will be made on Friday 12 April, with ties to be played on 25 April and 2 May. This year's final will be held at the Amsterdam ArenA on 15 May.

Tottenham (1983/84, 1971/72) are the sole remaining previous winner of the trophy, while Lazio (1997/98), and Benfica (1982/83) have both been UEFA Cup runners-up. UEFA Champions League holders Chelsea and Benfica are the only former European Cup winners in contention.
