Stage set for UEFA Europa League semi-final draw

Chelsea FC, Fenerbahçe SK, SL Benfica and FC Basel 1893 make up the lineup for Friday's UEFA Europa League semi-final draw, broadcast live on UEFA.com from 12.00CET.

Former European champions Chelsea FC and SL Benfica, and last-four debutants Fenerbahçe SK and FC Basel 1893 make up the lineup for Friday's UEFA Europa League semi-final draw, to be broadcast live on UEFA.com from 12.00CET.

Full head-to-head records and team statistics are below.

While there were few alarms on Thursday for Fenerbahçe, who drew 1-1 with S.S. Lazio to rubber-stamp their place in a European semi-final for the first time, Basel, Chelsea and Benfica were made to work harder to progress. Basel were seven minutes from going through in normal time, but Clint Dempsey's late equaliser meant the Swiss side ultimately required a penalty shoot-out to overcome Tottenham Hotspur FC.

Chelsea booked their place despite a 3-2 defeat at FC Rubin Kazan. The Blues, 3-1 winners at Stamford Bridge last week, are bidding to become only the fourth side to capture all three of UEFA's major club competitions. They won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1971 and 1998, plus last season's UEFA Champions League, and would emulate Juventus, AFC Ajax and FC Bayern München by completing the treble.

Benfica, meanwhile, went through 4-2 overall, securing a 1-1 draw at Newcastle United FC thanks to a late goal from Eduardo Salvio, a UEFA Europa League winner with Club Atlético de Madrid last season.

Friday's draw takes place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon and will be open, meaning no teams are seeded and clubs from the same national association may be pitted against each other. It will be conducted by UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino and former Netherlands striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The semi-finals will be played on a home-and-away basis, with the first legs on Thursday 25 April and the returns the following Thursday. For administrative purposes, the last step of the draw will define whether the winner of semi-final 1 or the winner of semi-final 2 will be the designated home team for the final, held at the Amsterdam ArenA at 20.45CET on Wednesday 15 May.

All the draw proceedings will be transmitted live on UEFA.com. Our live DrawCentre will bring you the build-up and post-draw reaction.
