Juventus will look to avoid another disappointment in Turkey as they take a 2-0 UEFA Europa League round of 32 lead to Trabzonspor AŞ.

• The Bianconeri went down 1-0 at Galatasaray AŞ on UEFA Champions League matchday six to move into the UEFA Europa League but hold a two-goal cushion as they return to Turkey.

Previous meetings
• Pablo Osvaldo (16) and Paul Pogba (90+4) scored the goals in Turin, the sides' first encounter.

• Trabzonspor's 13 fixtures against Italian sides have ended W3 D5 L5 (W1 D3 L2 in Trabzon). They have not won in their last five home games against Serie A opponents (D3 L2), since overcoming FC Internazionale Milano 1-0 in the first leg of a 1982/83 UEFA Cup first round tie.

• Juventus have played nine games against Turkish clubs, with the record W4 D3 L2 (W1 D1 L2 away). Of those away matches, one – a 2-0 UEFA Champions League loss to Galatasaray in 2003 – was played on neutral territory in Dortmund.

Match background
• Trabzonspor were unbeaten in 12 European encounters this season (W9 D3) going into the first leg, but remain undefeated in seven European home games (W4 D3).

• Trabzonspor are yet to win a springtime UEFA competition game; their only previous attempts ended in back-to-back defeats by PSV Eindhoven in the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League round of 32.

• Juventus are without a win in their last four European away games (D1 L3).

• Juventus won their most recent round of 32 tie in this competition, beating AFC Ajax in 2009/10 en route to a last-16 exit to Fulham FC. However, their most recent UEFA Europa League campaign ended early as they missed the cut in the 2010/11 group stage after drawing all six of their Group A fixtures.

Team facts
• Juventus forward Fernando Llorente turned 29 on the eve of the game.

• Juventus Stadium will stage this season's UEFA Europa League final. Juventus can thus become the third side since the UEFA Cup was first decided with a one-off match in 1997/98 to compete in the showpiece at their home arena. Feyenoord triumphed in Rotterdam in 2002/03, but Sporting Clube de Portugal lost the 2004/05 final in Lisbon.

• Martin Cáceres and Didier Zokora were team-mates at Sevilla FC (2010-11).

• Juventus (1977, 1990, 1993) are one of nine former UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League winners in the round of 32, along with Tottenham Hotspur FC (1972, 1984), Sevilla (2006, 2007), Eintracht Frankfurt (1980), Valencia CF (2004), SSC Napoli (1989), FC Shakhtar Donetsk (2009), Ajax (1992) and FC Porto (2003, 2011).

• Juventus are one of three sides who have won the competition three times, along with FC Internazionale Milano (1990/91, 1993/94, 1997/98) and Liverpool FC (1972/73, 1975/76, 2000/01).

• Juventus's Andrea Pirlo has made 122 UEFA club competition appearances, more than any other outfield player in the round of 32.

• Ukraine and Italy are the most represented nations in the round of 32 with four teams each.

• Since August 2004, only one team has beaten Juventus in 34 European games in Turin: FC Bayern München, who won 4-1 in the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League group stage, and then 2-0 in the 2012/13 quarter-finals. Juventus's record during that run is W19 D13 L2.

• That latter loss to Bayern is their only defeat in nine European games at their new Juventus Stadium, and the only UEFA match at their new home in which they have failed to score.

Coach information
• Trabzonspor accepted the resignation of coach Mustafa Akçay in early February following a run of disappointing domestic results. His former assistant Hami Mandıralı has replaced him. The 45-year-old was a club legend as an attacking midfielder, famous for thunderous free-kicks. Capped 49 times, he was in charge of Turkey's Under-21 set-up before returning to Trabzonspor as Akçay's assistant in 2013.

• Antonio Conte has led Juventus to back-to-back Italian titles since taking charge at his old club in 2011. The 44-year-old started out as a midfielder at home-town team US Lecce, then represented Juventus from 1991 to 2004, winning five Serie A titles, the 1992/93 UEFA Cup and the 1995/96 UEFA Champions League among a host of other trophies. He returned as a coach after spells in charge of US Arezzo, AS Bari, Atalanta BC and AC Siena.

• Conte is one of three coaches in the round of 32 who won the UEFA Cup as players, along with PAOK FC's Huub Stevens (PSV, 1978) and Ajax's Frank de Boer (Ajax, 1992).

Shoot-out record
• Soner Aydoğdu and Didier Zokora had efforts saved as Trabzonspor lost their only previous UEFA competition penalty shoot-out 4-2 at Videoton FC in the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League play-offs.

• Juventus's record in six UEFA club competition shoot-outs is W4 L2:
lost 3-2 (neutral) v AC Milan, 2002/03 UEFA Champions League final
won 4-2 (neutral) v AFC Ajax, 1995/96 UEFA Champions League final
won 3-1 (home) v Real Madrid CF, 1986/87 European Champion Clubs' Cup second round
won 4-2 (neutral) v AA Argentinos Juniors, 1985 European/South American Cup final
lost 4-1 (home) v Widzew Łódź, 1980/81 UEFA Cup second round
won 3-0 (home) v AFC Ajax, 1977/78 European Champion Clubs' Cup quarter-finals

Round of 16
• The winners of this tie will meet Esbjerg FB or ACF Fiorentina in the round of 16, playing the first leg at home.

• Trabzonspor have never met either of their potential opponents.

• Juventus have never met Esbjerg, but know Fiorentina well from Serie A. They also beat the Viola 3-1 on aggregate in the 1989/90 UEFA Cup final – the sides' only previous European encounters.
