St-Étienne not happy with Qarabağ draw

"We should have won easily," said Ricky van Wolfswinkel after AS Saint-Étienne drew 1-1 with Qarabağ FK. "I should have scored a second and even a third."

St-Étienne draw for fifth time in Group F as they end 1-1 against Qarabağ
Ricky van Wolfswinkel feels home team "should have won easily"
Jérémy Clément, Fabien Lemoine and Jonathan Brison also frustrated
Sides level on five points in second but Qarabağ have superior head-to-head
Next games: Dnipro v St-Étienne, Qarabağ v Inter (11 December)

Ricky van Wolfswinkel, St-Étienne forward
We should have won easily, because we should have scored more goals – I should have scored a second and even a third. We were unlucky. We should never have conceded a goal like that, leaving so much space for the player to pass the ball forward. He took it well but he should never have had the opportunity.

There will be regrets if we don't qualify, because we had the same kind of game against Dnipro that we should have won. We'll go to Dnipro to try and win and hope things go for us.

Jérémy Clément, St-Étienne midfielder
We should have done a lot better. We dominated the game and we weren't rewarded for it. We score few goals – that's football – and there is not a big difference between winning and losing. The most important thing was how we played. It isn't a good result, but there is one game left and anything is possible.

Fabien Lemoine, St-Étienne midfielder
What's annoying is that they scored from their only shot on goal. They only created that opportunity and did nothing else. We tried, we shot at goal but their goalkeeper was good, too. The only thing we can reproach ourselves for is that we didn't score one more goal than our opponents.

Ricky scored again tonight and we're learning to play with him. He's not the same kind of player as those who played in that position before. We have to get used to playing with him, and I think it's getting better and better. I think he played well this evening and I hope he'll continue like that.

It's not over yet. We're third in the group on goal difference. We have to play well at Dnipro and then see what Qarabağ do. If we don't go through, we will regret it because we had opportunities to do so. Apart from the Inter game, we should have won our other two home matches.

Jonathan Brison, St-Étienne defender
If we don't qualify, it will be because of our home form. We haven't managed to win. However, we can look at ourselves in the mirror: we gave everything and have nothing to reproach ourselves for.
