After just six months of his year-long deal in charge of the Eredivisie side Co Adriaanse has been dismissed as coach of FC Twente.
Although Twente failed to reach the UEFA Champions League group stage under Adriaanse, losing to SL Benfica in the play-offs, the 64-year-old successor to Michel Preud'homme guided the Tukkers safely into the UEFA Europa League round of 32 as section winners following four victories in Group K.
Adriaanse, who counts ADO Den Haag, Willem II, AFC Ajax, AZ Alkmaar, FC Porto and FC Salzburg among clubs he has previously coached, leaves Twente third in the Eredivisie, five points behind leaders AZ.
Twente face FC Steaua Bucureşti in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League round of 32 tie, with the first leg in the Stadionul Naţional scheduled for 16 February ahead of the return in Enschede a week later.
