Pre-season gloom
The Catalan club have moved to acquire the 24-year-old on a five-year contract after a disappointing pre-season. Espanyol have yet to record a win this summer despite the arrival of seven new players, with many citing the departures of Maxi Rodríguez and Dani García as the key factor.
Madrid roots
Luis García, not to be confused with the Liverpool FC player of the same name, was discovered by the Real Madrid CF academy and played two seasons for their B team before joining Real Murcia CF in 2003. After scoring eleven goals in his first term in the Primera División, he transferred to Mallorca last summer and repeated the feat as the Balearic side just avoided relegation.
Moving on
Espanyol have also released frontman Raúl Molina. The 28-year-old is set to put pen to paper on a two-year deal with Segunda División B outfit Rayo Vallecano. Molina spent last season on loan at Xerez CD.
