Czech Republic forward Václav Kadlec has signed for Eintracht Frankfurt from AC Sparta Praha.

The 21-year-old, capped four times by his country, has agreed a contract running until summer 2017 and played his last game for Sparta on Saturday, donning the armband for the final minutes of their 0-0 draw at reigning champions FC Viktoria Plzeň. Kadlec, who scored 39 goals in 146 matches for Sparta, moves for an undisclosed fee thought to be around €3m.

"I will remember only good things about Sparta, I started when I was 16," Kadlec said. "The best season for me was the last one, I will remember the Czech title I have won and many of our games in the Europa League.

"I have been following the games of Eintracht for several weeks, I am really looking forward to joining the club. The Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in the world, it is attractive, many fans come to the stadiums.

"I feel Eintracht are the right club for me in which I will have best chance of starting my Bundesliga career. Another important reason for me is that it is not far away from my home country, and I can stay in close contact with my family and friends."

Frankfurt sporting director Bruno Hübner added: "We agreed terms with the player and the club several weeks ago. We're happy that we finally managed to close the deal. Kadlec was the primary target for our coach Armin Veh and we see huge potential in the player."

Eintracht are preparing for their UEFA Europa League play-off with Qarabağ FK of Azerbaijan over the next two Thursdays. Sparta exited the competition in the second qualifying round against BK Häcken of Denmark with Kadlec playing in both legs.
