Turkey and Trabzonspor AŞ goalkeeper Onur Kıvrak is likely to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing cruciate ligament surgery today in Istanbul.

The 26-year-old custodian was injured during the Black Sea club's UEFA Europa League Group L home defeat by Legia Warszawa on 2 October. He tore cruciate ligaments in his left knee. "Onur will be discharged from hospital after two days and then his rehabilition will begin. He will only be able to resume training after six months," Trabzonspor medic Hakan Bozdoğan said.

The injury is a blow for Turkish football and Trabzonspor as far as the European Qualifiers and UEFA Europa League are concerned. Onur has already sat out Turkey's Group A games against the Czech Republic and Latvia, and will be absent from next month's tie against Kazakhstan and the Netherlands fixture in March. Naturally, he will also skip Trabzonspor's remaining UEFA Europa League group matches against KSC Lokeren OV, FC Metalist Kharkiv and Legia.
