Dutch giants PSV host Estoril

PSV Eindhoven will look to mark the anniversary of their biggest win in European competition with an opening UEFA Europa League Group E success against Estoril Praia.

• PSV have won just once in five European home games against Portuguese sides – 5-0 against FC Porto in the 1988/89 European Champion Clubs' Cup second round. Their last two home games against Liga opponents have ended 2-2, with SL Benfica their opponents on both occasions.

• As they embark upon only their second European season, Estoril have lost just once in five UEFA away games – 2-1 at FC Slovan Liberec in last season's group stage. They scored at least once in all of those fixtures.

• PSV were victorious in all four of their qualifying games this term, and have won three of their last four UEFA home games without conceding.

• This game takes place on the 40th anniversary of PSV's biggest win in UEFA competition; a 10-0 victory against Northern Ireland's Ards FC in the first round of the 1974/75 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.

• PSV midfielder Stijn Schaars and right-back Santiago Arias both played in the Liga for Sporting Clube de Portugal from 2011 to 2013.

• Estoril's Polish goalkeeper Paweł Kieszek spent the 2011/12 campaign in the Netherlands with Roda JC.

The coaches
• Having led PSV to Dutch Cup glory as caretaker coach in 2012, former midfielder Phillip Cocu took permanent command in 2013, after learning the ropes in a number of roles at the club. As a player, he collected 101 caps for the Netherlands and won four titles in two spells at PSV, as well as the 1998/99 Spanish crown with FC Barcelona, his club from 1998 to 2004.

• Estoril coach José Couceiro has had a varied career since taking charge of FC Alverca in the early 2000s. At various times he has been Portugal Under-21 coach and Lithuania's national team boss, opting for adventures in Turkey and Russia more recently. He took charge at Estoril this year after leaving Vitória FC.
