Serhiy Rebrov, Dynamo Kyiv coach
There are no easy opponents in this competition. You could see that in the first half when we really struggled. Aalborg are a very strong team; they don't have stars but they have discipline. We had to put in all of our efforts to break them down.
Dragovic's dismissal mobilised us; everyone was working for both themselves and for Alex. Before that, in the second half, we were controlling the match and attacking very well. We created a lot of chances and deserved a goal earlier.
I want to thank Oleh Gusev, who not only scored the relieving goal but put in a lot of defensive work in the ten minutes he played. In fact, I want to thank all of my players – they gave everything for victory – and the fans who supported us.
Kent Nielsen, AaB coach
We played a good match at home, but tonight Dynamo deserved the win. They played better than us, especially during the first 20 minutes of the second half when they created a lot of chances. We can't compare Aalborg and Dynamo – the Ukrainian club are a level above.
We conceded twice after they were reduced to ten men, but it was only moments after the red card that they scored the first one after a corner. At set pieces it was not so important that they did not have 11 men. They had the quality to score that goal and then they defended well.
Serhiy Sydorchuk, Dynamo Kyiv midfielder
It was a very important win; it was not easy to get these three points. Our opponents played aggressively and with great discipline. Everyone was a bit nervous because we knew any mistake could cost us. We had a tough conversation at the break and played much better in the second half. We were sharper and created many chances.
Oleh Gusev, Dynamo Kyiv midfielder
This was a very hard and nervy game, but it was obvious that all our players gave everything on the pitch. We respected Aalborg and wanted to play our best football, but we had an exhausting league match [against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk] a few days ago and we have another one very soon. We felt a bit tired.
