FC Dynamo Kyiv proved to be devilishly effective with ten men, Domagoj Vida and Oleh Gusev on target as they avenged a 3-0 UEFA Europa League Group J loss at Aalborg BK.
The visitors looked more coherent than a disjointed Dynamo early on, Thomas Enevoldsen's close-range effort blocked by the sliding Yevhen Khacheridi before Henrik Dalsgaard's strike went close. However, Serhiy Rebrov's side rallied, and Serhiy Sydorchuk curled a left-footed shot centimetres wide.
Having struggled to keep possession in the first period, Dynamo shook off their shackles after the break and took the game to their opponents, Younes Belhanda forcing a brave save from Nicolai Larsen in a one-on-one four minutes into the second half. Andriy Yarmolenko, Sydorchuk and Artem Kravets all had chances, but Kenneth Emil Petersen cleared Yarmolenko's off the line, and Larsen produced stunning saves to deny the other two.
The hosts' frustrations were compounded on 68 minutes when Aleksandar Dragovic was shown a straight red card for a foul on Kasper Risgård, but a few moments later Yarmolenko found Vida from a corner, and the Croatian international scored with a great header.
AaB pressed for an equaliser, but Dynamo defended stoutly and in a rare foray into the visitors' half, substitute Gusev snuffed out the Danish side's hopes of a comeback with a close-range shot.
