A first Gibraltarian entrant and five teams that made it to last season's group stage are among the 119 clubs awaiting the UEFA Europa League first and second qualifying round draws streamed live at 13.00CET and 14.30CET respectively on Monday.
Seventy-eight of those sides will be in the first qualifying round that will kick off proceedings. They have been split into seven 'groups' each containing equal numbers of seeded and unseeded teams according to their coefficients.
In the first qualifying round ties on 3 and 10 July will be College Europa FC from Gibraltar as well as Tromsø IL and FC Shakhter Karagandy, who both competed in the group stage last season. Also involved are two-time UEFA Cup winners IFK Göteborg and 1983 European Cup Winners' Cup winners Aberdeen FC.
As well as College Europa, FC Santos Tartu, FK Lovćen, Stjarnan, Qäbälä FK, FC Veris, FK Haugesund and IF Brommapojkarna are all making their UEFA men's club competition debuts in the first qualifying round. Brommapojkarna, like Myllykosken Pallo-47 and Tromsø, are Respect Fair Play entrants; the same method by which the Norwegian side began their impressive 2013/14 run. For MyPa it is a record fifth entry by this method, which has been running for 20 seasons.
All 39 ties are played on 3 and 10 July, with the reward for the winners a place in the second qualifying round on 17 and 24 July. Among the 41 teams already in that stage are three 2013/14 group stage participants: Esbjerg fB, SV Zulte Waregem and HNK Rijeka, plus European newcomers SV Grödig, SKN St Pölten and Zawisza Bydgoszcz. The draw will be held at 14.30CET with the seeding pots confirmed after the first qualifying round ties are set. The winners of the 40 ties progress to join 18 sides already confirmed in the third qualifying round.
In both of Monday's draws, each team in each group is allocated a number. Balls containing the seeded numbers are placed in one bowl, with balls for the unseeded numbers in the same group positioned in another (in the first qualifying round, the ten-team Groups 1–3 will be drawn in one go, then the 12–club Groups 4–7). A ball is taken from each bowl and placed in a large empty bowl in the middle, where they are shuffled. The clubs whose numbers correspond to the first ball drawn play their first matches at home, against the sides whose numbers match the next ball drawn.
Seven teams are already confirmed in the group stage, with ten to join them from the UEFA Champions League play-offs. The other 31 will emerge from this competition's own play-offs, for which 18 sides are already confirmed; 15 more will transfer from the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round and 29 will advance from that stage of this competition.
In all, 195 clubs will compete for a place in the final at the National Stadium, Warsaw on Wednesday 27 May 2015, including eight more that will move from the UEFA Champions League group stage to the round of 32.
