SL Benfica will have to play the rest of the season without full-back Sílvio after he fractured his right tibia and fibula during the 2-0 quarter-final second-leg victory against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night.
The 26-year-old, on loan from Club Atlético de Madrid, sustained the injury in a tangle with team-mate Luisão in the first minute of the game which took Benfica into today's UEFA Europa League semi-final draw. A member of the Atlético squad that won the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League, the eight-times-capped Sílvio also has no chance of playing in the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals with Portugal.
