Genk v Rapid Wien background

Genk know a sixth successive UEFA competition home win has a good chance of taking them to the round of 32, but Rapid Wien still have plenty to fight for in UEFA Europa League Group F.

• Genk are through with a win if the other game, between Athletic Club and Sassuolo, is not drawn; Rapid are out if they lose and Athletic win.

Previous meetings
• Rapid scored three goals in ten minutes as they earned a 3-2 win against Genk on matchday one in what was the clubs' third meeting.

• Both matches ended all-square (1-1 in Genk, 2-2 in Vienna) when the clubs met in the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League group stage. The teams for the former fixture, played on 24 October, were:
Genk: Köteles, Mbodji, Tshimanga, Koulibaly, Vossen, Gorius, Camus (Hyland 77), Ngongca, Buffel (Masika 69), De Ceulaer, Kumordzi.
Rapid: Novota, Petsos, Sonnleitner, Boyd, Hofmann (Starkl 81), Palla (Schrammel 61), Dibon, Schaub, Sabitzer, Trimmel, Bošković (Behrendt 74).

Matchday one: Rapid Wien 3-2 Genk

• Rapid's record in 13 games against Belgian opposition is: W5 D4 L4 (W1 D3 L2 in Belgium).

Form guide
• Genk have won their last five European home games and have been scoring at an impressive rate in Group F – ten goals in the course of their four matches so far.

• Rapid have not won in Group F since that first encounter with Genk (D2 L1).

• Genk have successfully negotiated both of their previous UEFA Europa League group stage campaigns.

• Rapid made it through the UEFA Europa League group stage for the first time in 2015/16 following four unsuccessful attempts.

Links and trivia
• The journey from Vienna to Genk is around 850km.

• Genk's Leon Bailey has had more attempts on target (13) than any other player in this season's group stage, scoring four goals. Bailey was a trainee in Austria, with Salzburg's feeder club Liefering, from 2011–13.

The coaches
• Genk head coach Peter Maes was appointed in 2015, having guided Lokeren to two Belgian Cup successes. A goalkeeper, the highest-profile campaigns of his playing days were spent as second-choice at Anderlecht.

• Damir Canadi replaced Mike Büskens as Rapid coach on 11 November in the wake of some disappointing domestic results. A midfielder who started his career with Austria Wien, he previously coached in Europe with Altach in the 2015/16 UEFA Europa League qualifiers.
