UEFA has announced that a minute's silence will be observed before the Crvena zvezda v Sassuolo match on Thursday as a mark of respect for the victims of the earthquake that struck central Italy.
The request came from Italian club Sassuolo in the wake of the deadly quake which occurred early on Wednesday morning. Sassuolo coach Eusebio Di Francesco said: "We want to be as close as possible to the victims of this earthquake. I come from central Italy and I feel this tragedy even more."
Sassuolo won last week's UEFA Europa League play-off first leg 3-0 in Reggio Emilia. The winners of the tie will earn a place in Friday's group stage draw in Monaco. Meanwhile, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has announced that there will be a minute's silence in the next round of domestic games across all leagues.
