Legia v Midtjylland background

All is not quite lost for Legia Warszawa as they head into matchday five in UEFA Europa League Group D needing a victory against Danish champions FC Midtjylland.

• Midtjylland will finish second if they win and Club Brugge KV fail to beat SSC Napoli.

• Legia will only remain in contention if they win and Club Brugge fail to collect three points.

• Morten Rasmussen scored the only goal as Midtjylland beat Legia on matchday one. It was the sides' first meeting and Midtjylland's first encounter with Polish opponents.

The coaches
• Stanislav Cherchesov replaced Henning Berg as Legia coach on 6 October. The former FC Spartak Moskva and Russia goalkeeper led Spartak through the 2007/08 UEFA Cup group stage and repeated the feat with FC Dinamo Moskva last season, his side winning all six games.

• Midtjylland boss Jess Thorup played in Germany and Austria as a forward. He made his name as a coach at Esbjerg fB, where he won a Danish Cup before taking Denmark to the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championships. Midtjylland hired him this summer.
