Liverpool FC will make it to the UEFA Europa League round of 32 with a victory as they welcome FC Girondins de Bordeaux in Group B.

Previous meetings
• Jussiê cancelled out Adam Lallana's strike as the sides drew 1-1 in France on matchday one.

• Under Brazilian coach Ricardo Gomes, Bordeaux met then-European champions Liverpool in the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League group stage. Rafael Benítez's Reds won 1-0 in Bordeaux and 3-0 at Anfield.

• Liverpool's record in 13 home games against French sides is W10 D1 L2.

• Bordeaux have won only one of their 11 fixtures against English clubs (W1 D3 L7) and have lost all five of their games in England without scoring.

Form guide
• Liverpool have scored once in all four of their Group B matches, those four goals earning them three 1-1 draws and a 1-0 win. The same is true of their last four European home games: three 1-1s and a 1-0.

• Bordeaux have drawn both of their Group B away games and are yet to win in the section (D3 L1).

• Liverpool made it through to the knockout phase in both of their previous UEFA Europa League group stage campaigns – in 2010/11 and 2012/13.

• Bordeaux advanced to the round of 32 in their first two UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League group stage campaigns, but missed the cut in their most recent appearance, in 2013/14.

Trivia and links
• The journey from Bordeaux to Liverpool is a little under 1,000km.

• Liverpool boast French talent in the form of former Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Mamadou Sakho. Sakho and Bordeaux's Clément Chantôme were Paris team-mates.

• The Reds' Divock Origi (LOSC Lille) and Dejan Lovren (Olympique Lyonnais) also have Ligue 1 experience.

• Bordeaux goalkeeper Cédric Carrasso played his first competitive club game in England, coming on at half-time for Crystal Palace FC in a 0-0 draw against Birmingham City FC in an April 2002 second-tier encounter. It was the only appearance of his loan spell in England and he is the only Bordeaux player with English pedigree.

The coaches
• Liverpool manager since 2012, Brendan Rodgers was sacked on 4 October after an uninspiring run of results.

• Rodgers' replacement is former Borussia Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp. The 48-year-old enjoyed an immensely successful spell in charge at the Westfalenstadion, winning the Bundesliga in 2010/11, completing the double the following season and narrowly missing out against FC Bayern München in the 2013 UEFA Champions League final.

• Bordeaux's Willy Sagnol took control in 2014 after a spell as France Under-21 coach. The 38-year-old shone as a right-back, winning a French title with AS Monaco FC before heading to Germany, where he lifted five titles and the 2000/01 UEFA Champions League with Bayern.
