Ajax, winners of the 1992 UEFA Cup, are among 15 clubs that have transferred to the UEFA Europa League play-offs after losing their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round ties.

The 15 will hope to go one better than Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, who last season became the first team in the current format to exit the UEFA Champions League in the third qualifying round and go on to reach the UEFA Europa League final. In 2002/03 Celtic did the same in the pre-2009/10 format when the third qualifying round was the last phase before the UEFA Champions League group stage.

Ajax's move over means they are transferring from the UEFA Champions League to the UEFA Europa League for the tenth time (mid-season switches included), equalling Shakhtar Donetsk's record since the system was introduced in 1996/97.

The play-off draw is streamed live in the UEFA.com DrawCentre from 13.00CET on Friday and the lineup will be completed by the 29 UEFA Europa League third qualifying round winners on Thursday.
