FC Dinamo Moskva's long unbeaten UEFA Europa League run ended at SSC Napoli in the first leg, but they will look to avenge that defeat and reach the last eight.

Stanislav Cherchesov, Dinamo Moskva coach: "At 3-1 we have a chance of qualifying. If it had been 4-1 then there would be almost none but despite playing for so long in the first leg with ten men we still have a window of opportunity. In the last round we had to beat Anderlecht [having drawn 0-0 away] but that didn't mean we forgot all about tactics. I believe in the team, and the fans can help spur us on."

Rafael Benítez, Napoli coach: Dinamo have dangerous players, especially in attack with the likes of Kevin Kuranyi. They are a dangerous side but the most dangerous thing for us would be not being fully focused after the victory in the first leg. I work every day with my players and I know full well how angry they get when they don't earn a good result [like Sunday's defeat at Hellas Verona FC]. They want to do things well and prove that they are a good side.

Previous meetings
• Kuranyi gave Dinamo the lead inside two minutes as the sides met for the first time in the first leg, but Gonzalo Higuaín's hat-trick – and the dismissal of visiting midfielder Roman Zobnin – tilted the tie in Napoli's favour.

• Prior to the first leg, Dinamo were unbeaten in 13 European games (W9 D4) including all 12 of their games in this season's competition. They have won their last four European home games, but only one of them by a margin of more than one goal.

• Napoli have not conceded in three of their last four European away games, the exception being a 2-0 defeat at BSC Young Boys in the UEFA Europa League group stage.

• One of only three clubs left in the round of 16 who started out in the third qualifying round, Dinamo were the only side to make it through the group stage with six straight wins.

• Higuaín's hat-trick against Dinamo was the 37th in the UEFA Europa League and the record-extending fifth by a Napoli player in the competition, following trebles by Edinson Cavani (two), Eduardo Vargas and Jonathan De Guzmán. No other club has registered more than three UEFA Europa League hat-tricks.

• Higuaín is one of six players to have scored six since the start of the UEFA Europa League group stage. Only Everton FC's Romelu Lukaku (7) and FC Salzburg's Alan (8) have scored more.

• Dinamo coach since April 2014, Stanislav Cherchesov made his name as a goalkeeper with FC Spartak Moskva, 1. FC Dynamo Dresden and FC Tirol Innsbruck, also playing international football for the Soviet Union, the CIS and Russia. As a player, he claimed three Austrian titles with Tirol, going on to coach FC Wacker Innsbruck along with a number of Russian sides including Spartak.

• Napoli coach since May 2013, Rafael Benítez won two Spanish titles and the 2003/04 UEFA Cup with Valencia CF, the 2004/05 UEFA Champions League with Liverpool FC and the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League with Chelsea FC. The Spaniard lifted the Coppa Italia in his first Napoli campaign. Benítez could match Giovanni Trapattoni in becoming only the second coach to win the UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League for a third time.

• Benítez (Chelsea, 2013) is one of three coaches involved in the round of 32 who have won the UEFA Europa League since the competition took on its current incarnation, along with Zenit's André Villas-Boas (FC Porto, 2011) and Sevilla's Unai Emery (Sevilla, 2014). Benitez is the only coach in the last 32 to have won the UEFA Champions League.
