Goalkeeper: Sergio Rico (Sevilla FC)
The 21-year-old saved his best for last while keeping Villarreal CF at bay for long spells. The final two of his seven saves came seconds apart as a stunning double stop on 90 minutes ensured his side came away with a two-goal advantage. 

Left-back: Domenico Criscito (FC Zenit)
Playing against ten men, the Italian international was hardly overworked defensively but he still made a telling contribution as his second goal in 36 European appearances earned Zenit a 2-0 success over Torino FC.

Centre-back: Douglas (FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk)
The Brazilian defender epitomised everything positive about the hosts' performance against AFC Ajax, marshalling the defence superbly, cutting out countless crosses and almost getting on the scoresheet in a 1-0 victory.

Right-back: Vieirinha (VfL Wolfsburg)
Wolfsburg started sloppily yet they got much sharper as the Portugal winger pushed forward. Teeing up Wolfsburg's second against FC Internazionale Milano, he was the Bundesliga outfit's most dynamic player.

Left wing: Kevin De Bruyne (VfL Wolfsburg)
His corner set up Wolfsburg's equaliser and the Belgian international claimed the next two goals himself – a composed first-time finish and a swerving free-kick. The one regret was that he failed to complete his hat-trick, spurning a decent chance at the death.

Central midfield: Felipe Gedoz (Club Brugge KV)
Beşiktaş JK went ahead two minutes after the Brazilian's half-time introduction, yet the 21-year-old proved the catalyst for Club Brugge's comeback, his drive being helped in by Tom De Sutter before he won the penalty for the clincher.

Central midfield: Stéphane Mbia (Sevilla FC)
A towering figure in the middle of the park, the Cameroon midfielder drove his side forward on the counterattack, broke up endless attacks and even got himself on the scoresheet with a vital and bruising header.

Central midfield: Vitolo (Sevilla FC)
It took the 25-year-old Spaniard just 13.21 seconds – a competition record – to find the target against Villarreal, and he pulled the strings as his team proceeded to establish a two-goal advantage in the all-Liga tie.

Right wing: Gökhan Töre (Beşiktaş JK)
Registered what could be a crucial away goal with a tremendous effort as he took on three men and slammed the ball into the net. A constant threat to Club Brugge, he showed the way for the Black Eagles with his pace and trickery.

Forward: Romelu Lukaku (Everton FC)
"It was up there," said the Belgium centre-forward when asked if his display against FC Dynamo Kyiv was one of his best: a barnstorming run to create Everton's equaliser and his late spot-kick winner attest to his excellence.

Forward: Gonzalo Higuaín (SSC Napoli)
The Argentina marksman led from the front to inspire the Partenopei, who recovered from a goal down to post a 3-1 triumph over FC Dinamo Moskva. His clinical hat-trick was rounded off with a thumping left-footed volley.
