Georginio Wijnaldum struck eight minutes from time as PSV Eindhoven secured a place in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 following a Group E game played over two days due to torrential rain in Portugal.

Goals from Memphis Depay (6) and Luciano Narsingh (14) – sandwiching Tozé's (12) initial reply for the hosts – had given PSV a strong start on Thursday evening. But Kuca's header (30) and Diogo Amado's (39) close-range finish helped Estoril recover to lead 3-2 at the interval. That was when heavy rain forced a suspension, with the second half rescheduled for Friday. Wijnaldum scored in style after the resumption to send his side through with a matchday to spare.

The Portuguese team, needing a win to stay in qualifying contention, had the first attempt of an attack-minded contest as Kuca forced a save from PSV goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet. However, it was Phillip Cocu's men who broke the deadlock as Depay notched his third in as many outings. Tozé spearheaded the Canaries' fightback to grab his first in Europe this term before Narsingh restored the visitors' advantage following a through ball by skipper Wijnaldum.

Zoet denied Sebá and Emídio Rafael yet he could not prevent José Couceiro's side levelling again. Tozé's wonderful delivery was nodded in by the unmarked Kuca. Sebá almost found the far post as the Liga outfit began to dominate, their impressive first period eventually rewarded with a third when Diogo Amado converted Kuca's cross. But then the rain intervened.

When the teams reconvened on Friday, the Boeren started brightly with Narsingh going close soon after the restart. Home keeper Paweł Kieszek thwarted Luuk de Jong, diving full length to parry his left-foot volley. At the other end Jeffrey Bruma blocked efforts from Tozé and Sebá in quick succession, before Adam Maher's drive elicited a fine stop from Kieszek. The latter was left helpless, though, when Netherlands midfielder Wijnaldum registered his second in as many games, rounding the keeper to slot in and earn a draw. His late goal was the 3,000th scored in the UEFA Europa League.

Kléber and Kuca squandered late chances to keep third-placed Estoril's campaign alive as PSV rubber-stamped their progress behind FC Dinamo Moskva.
