Facundo Parra buried a late volley to secure Asteras Tripolis FC a 1-1 draw at Beşiktaş JK in UEFA Europa League Group C, after Gökhan Töre had earlier put the hosts in front.
Gokhan played a neat one-two with Oğuzhan Özyakup before beating Asteras goalkeeper Tomás Kosický with a low shot on 33 minutes. With the three points seemingly within Beşiktaş's grasp, however, Parra met Martin Rolle's cross with a splendid volley to rattle the ball past Tolga Zengin and earn the Greek contenders a point.
Summer signings Demba Ba and José Sosa looked on from the bench as Beşiktaş almost opened the scoring on seven minutes, when a deliciously curled Oğuzhan free-kick hit the woodwork. At the other end, Ziguy Badibanga nearly connected with a dangerous Thanasis Panteliadis ball and Giorgos Zisopoulos also went close, before winger Gökhan fired in the opening goal.
Former Club Atlético de Madrid man Sosa came on to make his Beşiktaş debut on 69 minutes, but although a soggy pitch was helping to take some of the sting out of the game, Asteras rallied at the last. Argentinian forward Parra found the equaliser, and Staikos Vergetis's side might even have won the game, Tolga doing well to fend off Rolle's shot from distance.
