Eintracht Frankfurt captain Pirmin Schwegler is unlikely to feature in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 tie against FC Porto after sustaining cartilage damage to his ribs.
The 26-year-old was admitted to hospital after Saturday's 3-0 Bundesliga home win against bottom side TSV Eintracht Braunschweig complaining of acute pain, but was subsequently released, with the club now taking time to decide upon a course of treatment for the Switzerland midfielder.
The influential Schwegler has figured in 11 league games and two UEFA Europa League fixtures this season, having been sidelined with torn knee ligaments from September to November.
