Valencia CF have lost attacker Pablo Piatti for their UEFA Europa League round of 32 tie against FC Dynamo Kyiv after the Argentinian international suffered a thigh tear.
The 24-year-old – scorer of five goals in 18 appearances in all competitions this season – sustained the injury to his right leg in training for Valencia's scoreless Liga draw at Sevilla FC on Sunday. The former Club Estudiantes de La Plata and UD Almería winger will be sidelined for up to five weeks, leaving coach Juan Antonio Pizzi seeking alternatives ahead of Thursday's trip to Dynamo and the return leg in Spain a week later. Defender Philippe Senderos is unlikely to figure in the game in Ukraine, meanwhile, having picked up an adductor muscle strain.
