Defender Modibo Diakité has joined ACF Fiorentina on loan from Sunderland AFC until the end of the season, less than seven months after leaving Italy.
The 26-year-old centre-back, who has featured just seven times in the Premier League since joining from SS Lazio on a free transfer, becomes the Viola's fourth January capture following the arrivals of Alessandro Matri, goalkeeper Antonio Rosati and Manchester United FC midfielder Anderson.
After swapping Pescara Calcio for Lazio in 2006, Diakité went on to help the Biancocelesti win the Coppa Italia in 2008/09 and 2012/13. The Frenchman, who holds a Malian passport, also lifted the Italian Super Cup during his seven years in Rome.
Vincenzo Montella's team are fourth in Serie A and will face Esbjerg fB in the UEFA Europa League round of 32, with the first leg in Denmark on 20 February.
