FC Rubin Kazan have brought in Taras Burlak from FC Lokomotiv Moskva for a reported €2m fee, with the central defender signed up until summer 2018.
The 23-year-old will be tasked with replacing Iván Marcano, who has left the Premier-Liga outfit for Olympiacos FC, initially on loan. "Lokomotiv, you will always be in my heart," the once-capped Russian international said. "Thank you for a wonderful ten years."
Russia's captain at the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals in Israel, Burlak joined the Lokomotiv academy at 13 and now links up with the man who mentored him with the capital club's reserves – Rubin's recently appointed coach Rinat Bilyaletdinov.
Rubin, who sit 11th in the Russian Premier League, take on Real Betis Balompié in the UEFA Europa League round of 32, with the first leg scheduled for Seville on 20 February.
