Valencia CF have strengthened ahead of a UEFA Europa League round of 32 encounter against FC Dynamo Kyiv by bringing in Chilean international attacker Eduardo Vargas on loan from SSC Napoli until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old has most recently been on loan in the Brazilian championship with Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense – where he scored six goals in 18 top-flight appearances this term – and said he was "excited" to be joining the Liga side until 30 June 2014.
"This is a new challenge in my professional career and I feel proud that a club as important as Valencia have shown interest in me," he explained. "All I'm thinking of now is returning the club's confidence in me by performing very well [under] a demanding coach who looks for a lot of intensity from his players." Vargas made 19 league appearances for Napoli between 2011 and 2013 while he has scored 10 goals in 26 international appearances for Chile.
Juan Antonio Pizzi's side face Ukranian giants Dynamo at the NSK Olimpiyskyi on 20 February with the return leg in Spain taking place the following week.
