SS Lazio have parted company with Vladimir Petković and named their former coach Edoardo Reja as his replacement on an 18-month contract.
With the Biancocelesti lying tenth in Serie A with 20 points from 17 games and Petković having recently agreed to lead the Swiss national team from July, the capital club have opted to make a change as they head into the second half of the season.
Reja was previously in charge at the Stadio Olimpico between February 2010 and June 2012, guiding Lazio to fifth and fourth-place finishes respectively in his two full campaigns at the helm. Petković succeeded the 68-year-old and steered the Aquile to seventh in the table last term and into the Coppa Italia final, where they defeated city rivals AS Roma 1-0.
Lazio host FC Internazionale Milano on Monday in their first fixture after the winter break. In the UEFA Europa League round of 32 they play Bulgaria's PFC Ludogorets Razgrad, with the first leg in Rome on 20 February.
