Europa League matchday four by numbers

UEFA.com presents 13 stimulating facts from matchday four of the UEFA Europa League.

• Eight teams booked their place in the round of 32 on matchday four, and all are from different countries – Austria (FC Salzburg), Bulgaria (PFC Ludogorets Razgrad), Denmark (Esbjerg fB), England (Tottenham Hotspur FC), Italy (ACF Fiorentina), Russia (FC Rubin Kazan), Spain (Valencia CF) and Ukraine (FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk).

• Three of the qualified sides – Fiorentina, Salzburg and Tottenham – have perfect records, posting four victories out of four. Only three clubs have ever won all six of their group matches, the first being Salzburg in the competition's inaugural 2009/10 season. Their feat was subsequently matched by FC Zenit (2010/11) and RSC Anderlecht (2011/12).

• Just one of the 48 participants remains without a point after four games – 2012/13 Polish double winners Legia Warszawa in Group J. Only one team has ever previously lost all six group fixtures – the Republic of Ireland's Shamrock Rovers FC in 2011/12.

• Rubin's qualification from Group D means the Russian outfit will have figured in the round of 32 in all five UEFA Europa League campaigns. That record will be unique unless AFC Ajax finish third in their UEFA Champions League section.

• PSV Eindhoven moved ahead of Club Atlético de Madrid in the UEFA Europa League's all-time rankings, with a nominal 55 points, thanks to their 2-0 home success against GNK Dinamo Zagreb. It was their 22nd victory, one short of Atlético's competition record.

• PSV's Swedish international Ola Toivonen joined Eduardo Salvio at the top of the UEFA Europa League all-time appearance list, making his 34th outing in the win against Dinamo Zagreb. He celebrated the landmark by scoring the second goal.

• Jermain Defoe's successful penalty for Tottenham at home to FC Sheriff brought him his fifth UEFA Europa League goal this term, putting him top of the 2013/14 scoring chart. It was his 23rd strike in European competition, enabling him to bypass Martin Chivers as Spurs' all-time leading European marksman.

• PAOK FC extended their competition record sequence of away games without defeat to eight with a 0-0 draw at Maccabi Haifa FC. Their last reverse on the road was 1-0 at Villarreal CF on 21 October 2010. Since then they have posted three wins and five draws.

• Tottenham's American goalkeeper Brad Friedel became the UEFA Europa League's oldest participant with his appearance against Sheriff at White Hart Lane. He displaced another keeper, FC Twente's Sander Boschker, as he took to the field aged 42 years and 173 days – 140 days older than Boschker.

• SK Rapid Wien, who have lost more UEFA Europa League matches than any other side (14), claimed another unwanted record on matchday four: their 2-2 home draw with KRC Genk means they have conceded the most goals in the tournament (46), the previous mark of 45 having been reached by 2011/12 runners-up Athletic Club.

• Another new negative record was set in FC Kuban Krasnodar's 1-1 draw at home to Swansea City AFC, with the Russian club's defender Xandão receiving the UEFA Europa League's fastest-ever yellow card for a foul on 28 seconds. He later picked up a second caution and was sent off.

• Matchday four brought first UEFA Europa League victories for debutants APOEL FC and SV Zulte Waregem. Of the 24 newcomers to the competition in 2013/14, nine are still seeking their first triumph – Kuban, IF Elfsborg, CS Pandurii Târgu Jiu, FC Paços de Ferreira, SC Freiburg, Estoril Praia, HNK Rijeka, Tromsø IL and FC Shakhter Karagandy.

• Elfsborg, Pandurii, Paços Ferreira and Tromsø are among seven teams already eliminated from the competition, the other three being Dinamo Zagreb, R. Standard de Liège and Legia.
