Forward Alexandre Lacazette said Olympique Lyonnais's 1-1 draw with Vitória SC showed the struggling seven-time Ligue 1 champions are "on the upward slope." Lyon secured their second successive Group I draw with a display that left Lacazette regretting a lack of ruthlessness which might have earned victory. Guimarães' Chris Malonga told UEFA.com the Portuguese visitors were delighted to be heading home with a "deserved" draw, which kept Rui Vitória's men top of Group I.
Alexandre Lacazette, Lyon forward
We were sharper and better technically than in previous matches. The goal we conceded hurt us, but we stayed united and we were able to get back into it early in the second half. We lacked that little bit extra to win and we were also short of a little bit of luck.
We have regrets, because I think if we were a little more clinical up front and at the back, we would have won. We're not very confident given the results we've had, but we couldn't sink lower in terms of the way we were playing. We're on the upward slope.
Gaël Danic, Lyon midfielder
We played a good second half after putting certain things right at half-time. After that, we showed a lot of desire, and it's a shame that the match didn't last five minutes longer as they were really on their knees.
We saw a good Lyon side in the second half, and the fact we scored quickly really gave us the freedom to play. We have to keep in the same vein for the trip to Montpellier [in Ligue 1] on Sunday, and in general start matches with much more confidence.
Chris Malonga, Guimarães forward
It's good to take a point at Lyon, who are the group favourites. We knew that it wasn't going to be fun, even if Lyon are in a tricky situation right now. In the first half, we showed what we can do and scored.
After that, it was a little more difficult, because Lyon needed to get a result. In the end, a point each is deserved. We've built on our victory from the first game. We are top of Group I and we will do all we can to qualify.
