Gadzhi Gadzhiev will lead FC Anji Makhachkala in this season's UEFA Europa League group stage after leaving PFC Krylya Sovetov to start a fourth spell in charge of the Dagestan club.

The 67-year-old coached Anji to 2001 Russian Cup final success in his first stint from 1999–2001, and then returned in 2003 and between 2010 and 2011 before being chosen to replace Guus Hiddink and embark on a fourth chapter. Anji finished third in Russia's Premier League last season to earn a place in the UEFA Europa League group stage, but made a disappointing start to the current campaign, with Hiddink resigning in July and his fellow Dutchman Rene Melensteen hired as stand-in boss. Once assistant coach of the Soviet Union, CIS and Russia national teams, Gadzhiev has held the reins at FC Volga Nizhny Novgorod and Krylya Sovetov since he last departed from Anji.
