ACF Fiorentina co-owner Andrea Della Valle has confirmed the signing of Slovenian international Josip Iličič for an undisclosed fee from US Città di Palermo.

"He's joining our club – he's a great player," said Della Valle, announcing on Tuesday that an agreement had been reached on the transfer of the 25-year-old forward, who will join the Viola subject to passing a medical at the Tuscan outfit on Wednesday.

Iličič, capped 22 times by Slovenia, moved to Palermo from NK Maribor in 2010 and scored 20 goals in 98 Serie A games with the Rosanero, half of them last term when the Sicilian side were relegated to Serie B.

Fiorentina will play in the UEFA Europa League after finishing fourth in Serie A last term. After missing out a place in the UEFA Champions League on the last day of the season, the Viola have had a busy summer with Mario Gomez, Joaquín, Marcos Alonso, Oleksandr Yakovenko, Massimo Ambrosini and Gustavo Munúa all joining. However, Stevan Jovetić departed for a reported €25m fee to Manchester City FC.
