Three weeks after saying goodbye to AC Milan, midfielder Massimo Ambrosini has joined the Rossoneri's Serie A rivals ACF Fiorentina on a 12-month deal.
The former Italian international left San Siro in June after being informed that his expiring contract would not be renewed, a decision which brought to an end his 18-year association with the Diavolo. Ambrosini, 36, is the second high-profile signing made by Fiorentina since the end of last season following their capture of winger Joaquín from Málaga CF.
Ambrosini won the Scudetto four times, the Coppa Italia once and the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup on two occasions each, in 2003 and 2007, during a highly successful spell with Milan. His new club start their UEFA Europa League campaign in the play-offs.
