Continental debutants Wigan Athletic FC have enhanced their squad ahead of the UEFA Europa League group stage with the signing of goalkeeper Scott Carson from Bursaspor.
Capped four times by England, Carson has penned a three-year deal with the FA Cup holders and becomes manager Owen Coyle's fifth acquisition in the last seven days. Carson, 27, made 63 Süper Lig appearances for Bursaspor following his move to Turkey from West Bromwich Albion FC in summer 2011.
"I'm over the moon to join the club," said the former Leeds United AFC and Liverpool FC custodian. "Now the focus is to get my head down and start working hard in time for the new season. Coming into a squad with a new look to it is exciting. There are plenty of players coming in at the moment."
Carson joins James Perch, Thomas Rogne, Stephen Crainey and Chris McCann as new faces in the Latics squad. Wigan were relegated from the Premier League last season after eight years in the English top flight.
