FC Dacia Chisinau have appointed former defender Igor Negrescu as coach following the departure of Igor Dobrovolski.
Negrescu, 34, has signed a five-year contract to replace Dobrovolski, who had three successful seasons at the helm. In his first campaign Dobrovolski helped Dacia end FC Sheriff's ten-year reign as Moldovan champions and followed that with two second-placed finishes, meaning they will play in the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round next month, discovering their opposition on Monday.
"Dobrovolski has done fantastic work at the club," said Negrescu, who played for Dacia for more than a decade. "He has cultivated a special footballing style and a winning mentality. I will try not to spoil his achievements and to add something new from my side. For me, as a young coach, it's a big challenge."
Departing along with 45-year-old Dobrolvski are leading players Dumitru Popovici, Igor Costrov and Andrei Cojocari; Dacia have taken several on loan from FC Olimpia Balti, most notably Moldova striker Gheorghe Ovseannicov.
