FC Internazionale Milano midfielder Gaby Mudingayi will miss the remainder of the season after rupturing his left Achilles tendon in the 2-2 home draw against Torino FC on Sunday.
The 31-year-old, who joined Inter from Bologna FC last summer, was forced off after 53 minutes in just his ninth Serie A appearance for the Nerazzurri. The former KAA Gent, Torino and S.S. Lazio man, who has won 17 caps for Belgium, will undergo surgery which will keep him out of action for an estimated six months.
The injury is a further blow for Mudingayi, who was playing just his fourth game since recovering from a thigh injury suffered in the UEFA Europa League group stage match against FK Partizan on 8 November. Inter will face CFR 1907 Cluj in the first leg of their round of 32 tie on 14 February.
